Welcome to the Forum of Muslim Organisations (FOMO) Greater Manchester. The Forum is a proposed collaborative platform designed to unite Muslim organisations across Greater Manchester. Its aim is to foster networking, shared learning, advocacy, and joint action to address community needs and promote social good, guided by Islamic values and best practice.
At a time when Britain’s Muslim communities are feeling increasingly strained and disenfranchised by national and global events, including the rise of the Far Right, Islamophobic attacks and extreme suffering of so many parts of our ummah, collaboration would lead to increased strength and collective resilience.
We recognise the fantastic work of the plethora of Muslim organisations in Greater Manchester and hope that together we can consolidate, unify and strengthen this work through the launch of this collaborative organisation.
Our launch event of ‘Forum of Muslim Organisations (Greater Manchester)’ will be an itinerary with specialist speakers and roundtable discussions to hear how we can collectively shape our work:
‘Governance First Aid’
With Jehangir Malik
‘Uniting Our Voices For Gaza’
With Ehab Al Sharief and Nasir Hafezi (solicitor)
The afternoon will be a special opportunity to hear more about FOMO; the proposed vision and mission and how local Muslim organisations can get involved. We will elaborate on how the idea for this came about, who we are, why there is an urgent need to collaborate, how we can mould the forward direction together and how much membership matters.
We will invite feedback and welcome ideas as to how we can plan a path forward as a collaborative of Muslim organisations in Greater Manchester. Diverse voices and engagement is vital for the success of this venture.
